Refining Process

At Gold Station Refining, transparency is paramount throughout our refining process. Our expert refiners work diligently to ensure every step is visible and meticulously executed.

  1. 01

    Pre-Melt Weighing and Assessment

Our process begins with meticulous weighing of jewelry and scrap bars. This initial step helps us identify materials such as alloys or magnetic components. We record precise weights to assess potential weight discrepancies caused by various factors.

  2. 02

    Melting Process

Next, the metal undergoes melting in our advanced induction furnace heating generator. Borax powder is added to enhance yield and purity by removing impurities. Stirring ensures the homogeneity of the molten metal, maintaining karat purity throughout the process.

  3. 03

    Post-Melt Weighing

Following melting, we obtain a "doré bar" of scrap metal. Post-melting, the bar is weighed to determine the exact metal content, factoring in losses attributed to non-melting materials.

  4. 04

    Assaying with X-ray Fluorescence (XRF)

The surface of the scrap bar undergoes detailed analysis using our X-ray fluorescence machines. This rapid laser technology accurately identifies alloy contents within seconds, ensuring precise composition assessment.

  5. 05

    Final Payout

Your payout is determined based on current market rates. We offer flexible payment options including cash, cheque, and wire transfer, ensuring convenience and security for our clients.

Assaying Methods

At Gold Station Refining, precision and accuracy are at the heart of our refining process. We employ advanced assay methods to ensure that every ounce of precious metal is meticulously analyzed and valued.

Spectro MIDEX XRF machine

XRF Analysis

Gold Station Refining utilizes state-of-the-art X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometers like the SPECTRO MIDEX. Designed for precise elemental analysis, our XRF machines provide non-destructive measurements with high sensitivity and accuracy. Each analysis takes only 90 seconds, offering rapid insights into the elemental composition of your materials.

  • High Precision

Our XRF spectrometers are calibrated against industry standards, ensuring reliable and consistent results.

  • Non-Destructive

The XRF process requires no sample preparation or harsh chemicals, preserving the integrity of your materials.

  • Guided Refining

Results from XRF analysis guide our refining processes, optimizing smelting techniques for maximum precious metal recovery.

Fire Assay

For the utmost accuracy in precious metal analysis, Gold Station Refining employs the time-tested fire assay method. Widely regarded as the gold standard in assaying, fire assay separates precious metals from other alloys through a meticulous and rigorous process.

  • Reliability and Accuracy

Fire assay is renowned for its precision in determining the purity and quantity of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium in materials.

  • Industry Standard

Trusted by major refineries and mining companies, fire assay ensures that the true value of precious metals is accurately assessed.

  • Labor-Intensive Process

Despite its time-consuming nature, fire assay guarantees the most exacting results, critical for valuing gold ore and bullion.
